Documentary Special Screening - Cooked: Survival by Zip Code
Thu, Sep 19th 6:30pm - 7:30pm

We are excited to invite you to a special screening of the documentary Cooked: Survival by Zip Code, co-sponsored by the Interfaith Conference of Greater Milwaukee and Faith In Place. The screening will take place on Thursday, September 19th at the Times Cinema at 6:30 pm. This thought-provoking film delves into the tragic events of the 1995 heatwave, which claimed the lives of 739 residents in Chicago and 91 in Milwaukee. It highlights the underlying social vulnerabilities related to poverty, race, class, and education, contrasting "these slow-moving disasters" with the nation's focus on immediate disaster preparedness. The screening will be followed by a short panel discussion that will bring multiple perspectives to these social issues. For more details and to purchase tickets, please visit: tinyurl.com/movieCOOKED
