Church Hall
The Mass Incarceration subgroup of our Facing Racism ministry will host a soup and substance event. This program will begin with a meal at 6 pm. There will be a panel discussion, with three individuals sharing their experience within our legal system. The Executive Director of Project Return, who works to help people return to the community permanently and positively, will lead the discussion. The gathering will take place in the church hall and we request a RSVP using Signup Genius. Donations of soup, bread and desserts are also being solicited. Please consider attending - this issue has a profound impact on the lives of our neighbors. https://bit.ly/sebs1025 Project RETURN has walked alongside ex-incarcerated people by providing assistance with employment, housing, and counseling for forty years. Formed by Cross Lutheran Church in 1980, its mission is to address the high rate of recidivism in Milwaukee. Project RETURN is active in state and national advocacy efforts to create more opportunities for our clients' success. They have partnered with many community based organizations to create positive change in our community for those who have experienced incarceration. Currently, one of its biggest donors is the Catholic Community Foundation. In gratitude for their willingness to engage within our parish communities and in response to Catholic Social Teaching, we are asking St. Sebastian and St. Catherine to donate monetarily to Project RETURN. Jesus not only asked us to remember the least but Jesus instructed us not to forget, judge or shun those who have been or are incarcerated. Your donations will effectively help ensure that Project Return can continue to help their clients successfully reenter their families and our communities. We sill have a cash box for people to give donations at the event or you can support them by donating straight to Project Return with the link provided. https://www.projectreturnmilwaukee.org/donate-funds.htmlnk you for your generosity.
